“Winter Trek” is an album that makes you rejoice in the singer/songwriter vein of musicianship. John Paul delivers meaningful hooks with extremely versatile range and a ubiquitous vocal. Some songs are extremely minimal while others seem like it would have taken an army to arrange them. It’s always great to see a drummer move past the skins and into songwriting.”

"a rare talent"

- Scene Magazine

"In his lyrics, guitarist/keyboardist/singer John Paul completely immerses the listener in the environment he is describing...Paul gives a stunning performance"

- 88.9 WERS

“JOHN PAUL – WINTER TREK: John Paul is a busy man. He is a full time student at Emerson College and a singer/songwriter. John plays bass, drums, guitar and piano on his thirteen-track CD. Paul has performed in a number of bands but this album is mostly a solo project with some collaborations. John’s sound is a blend of airy pop and modern rock. His stories are varied with many moods ranging from happy to sad. ‘Sunshine’ floats on dreamy keys and instrumentation. John uses a low key vocal style reminiscent of Donovan that is complemented by female vocalist Jessica Wallner. ‘Lovely Evening’ has a reflective tone with whispering vocals as the tempo and texture of the song slowly grows. ‘Yellow Jacket’ is catchy, colorful and perhaps a bit quirky. John Paul has potential and Winter Trek is a good start on his musical journey!”
